The word quatrefoil translates to ‘four leaves’ and indicates a four leaf design that has a long history! Some records indicate its use in the Mayan culture dating back 700 BCE. It makes a regular appearance in Gothic architecture and during the Renaissance period. This particular quatrefoil is a barbed quatrefoil which may have first appeared in the around 1260 on the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris, France. The angles indicate thorns between the four petals of the shape. It is an enduring design of symmetry and balance.
Our T-shirt rainbow design is playing with gradients in tone as each color blends into the next. There is also play with hue saturation. The center of the quatrefoil is edging towards pastel tone and the outlines are full saturation of hue.

The process of creating the graphics on our clothes uses a water based ink. This allows the color to become part of the fabric and not sit on top of the fabric as is typical with traditional silk screening. This effect varies quite a bit based on the fabric blend. A blend with poly, such as the heathered shirts, will sit “in” more. The complexity of the graphic and the darkness of the shirt will effect it as well.
The time frame to custom produce your T-shirt is between 2 to 7 days, with 3 days being the average. You also have a choice of which shipping method you will select and at what speed you wish to receive your custom T-shirt.
